Beijing: The Alat Free Economic Zone Authority (AFEZ Authority), with the backing of the Azerbaijani Embassy in China and in cooperation with the China Overseas Development Association (CODA), hosted a significant event in Beijing focused on the Alat Free Economic Zone (AFEZ). The gathering attracted over 200 participants, including executives and representatives from CODA member enterprises and leading Chinese manufacturing companies, all eager to explore investment opportunities within AFEZ.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Azerbaijani Ambassador to China, Bunyad Huseynov, highlighted the importance of enhancing bilateral economic relations and investment cooperation between the two countries, while showcasing the investment prospects in Azerbaijan. He Zhenwei, Chairman of CODA, emphasized the strategic role of AFEZ as a gateway for Chinese manufacturers to enter broader regional and international markets. Zhenwei noted that a delegation from interested companies plans to visit Azerbaijan soon to explore manufacturing opportunities in AFEZ.
Valeh Alasgarov, Chairman of the Board of AFEZ Authority, provided a detailed presentation on AFEZ's regulatory framework, available infrastructure, and strategic advantages. He outlined the Zone's fiscal and non-fiscal incentives, including tax and customs duty exemptions, and its geographic significance as a manufacturing and investment hub. A subsequent Q and A session allowed Chinese enterprise representatives to delve into specific investment opportunities, with strong interest expressed in AFEZ's business-friendly environment.
Xiaolei Wang, International Cooperation Center Director of Sichuan Sunsync Photovoltaic Technology Co., Ltd., praised the support from AFEZ Authority and the Azerbaijani government for foreign investors. Sunsync, the first Chinese company registered in AFEZ, plans to establish a 23-hectare solar panel manufacturing complex in the Zone, bringing advanced technology and innovation to Azerbaijan.
A highlight of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between AFEZ Authority and CODA, cementing their commitment to promote cooperation, facilitate information exchange, and support Chinese enterprises interested in AFEZ investments. The event concluded with B2B networking sessions, where Chinese company representatives met one-on-one with AFEZ officials to discuss potential projects and collaborations.
The event marked a significant step in strengthening bilateral economic ties and promoting export-oriented manufacturing investment in the Alat Free Economic Zone. During their visit, the AFEZ Authority delegation also held meetings with Chinese investors considering production facilities within the Zone.
