Azerbaijan’s Black Caviar Export Revenue Sees Significant Growth


Baku: In a significant development for Azerbaijan’s economy, the country exported 1,200 kg of sturgeon caviar in 2024, generating revenues of USD 1,242,500, APA-Economics reports.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, calculations based on the State Statistics Committee’s report, this marks an 85% increase in the volume of exported caviar compared to the same period last year, with an additional 550 kg exported. The value of this exported caviar also rose by 2.1 times, an increase of USD 655,300.



During the reporting period, the average export price per kilogram of black caviar rose by 15% compared to 2023, reaching AZN 1,760. The primary export destinations included the United Arab Emirates, which received 540 kg, the United States with 380 kg, and Kazakhstan with 40 kg. Other notable destinations were Hong Kong (30 kg), Singapore (20 kg), Japan (20 kg), Germany (20 kg), and Saudi Arabia (10 kg).



The pricing structure varied across different markets, with the United Arab Emirates purchasing at AZN 1,712 per kg and the United States at AZN 1,347 per kg. Prices were notably higher in Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia, at AZN 3,400 and AZN 3,855 per kg, respectively. Meanwhile, Singapore, Japan, and Germany saw prices of AZN 3,423, AZN 1,100, and AZN 2,190 per kg, respectively.



Additionally, during this timeframe, Azerbaijan imported 7,160 kg of black caviar from China, valued at USD 2,148,200. The import price for this product was AZN 510 per kg.
