Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry Prioritizes Military Enhancement and Personnel Training


Baku—Colonel General Zakir Hasanov emphasized the importance of bolstering military power, combat capabilities, and professional personnel training during a recent official meeting at the Ministry of Defense.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the meeting, attended by senior military officials including deputies of the Defense Minister, commanders, chiefs of main departments, and rectors of military education institutions, took place via video teleconference. It began with tributes to national leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs who died for Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.



During the session, Colonel General Hasanov conveyed the directives of President Ilham Aliyev, emphasizing the government’s focus on strengthening the armed forces. He highlighted recent statements by the President at the first session of the Milli Majlis, underlining the primary goals set for the Azerbaijani Army.



The meeting also reviewed the operational situation along the conditional border, discussed unit activities, and evaluated current military readiness. Hasanov directed the leadership to maintain high combat readiness, increase vigilance, and prepare for any potential provocations.



Further, the Defense Minister praised the successful organization of the 5th Anniversary Azerbaijan International Defense Exhibition (ADEX), noting the display of modern weaponry and equipment. He stressed the need for thorough training on new armaments and their operational integration into the army.



Hasanov underscored the importance of effective troop management, mine clearance, and infrastructure improvement in challenging terrains. He also affirmed the state’s commitment to enhancing the social conditions and overall welfare of military personnel, with particular attention to logistical and medical support during the winter.



The meeting concluded with directives to continue educational programs, enforce safety protocols, and monitor the quality of training and education processes within the armed forces.
