Baku: Baku streets will remain open for traffic in the mornings and evenings during this year’s race week, APA reports, citing a statement by the Baku City Circuit (BCC). As part of the Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2025, which will take place from September 19 to 21, certain sections of the capital’s streets will be accessible for traffic.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the transit corridors will be operational again this year to ensure the convenience of city residents. From September 15 to 17, vehicle movement will be allowed on some parts of the track between 07:00-09:00 in the morning and 18:00-20:00 in the evening, and on September 18, between 07:00-09:00 in the morning and 20:00-22:00 in the evening.
The entry points for the transit routes include Salyan Highway to Neftchilar Avenue and Azneft Square, M. Lermontov Street to 50th Anniversary of the UN Street and Istiglaliyyat Street, S. Vurgun Street to Uzeyir Hajibeyli Street and Bulbul Avenue, Bulbul Avenue to Khagani Street and Neftchilar Avenue, and the intersection of Nizami and Pushkin Streets to Khagani Street.
Exit points are designated from Neftchilar Avenue to Baku Sea Port and Crescent Mall, Istiglaliyyat Street to Azerbaijan Avenue, and Neftchilar Avenue to Azneft Square and Deniz Mall. These roads are intended for transit purposes only; stopping and parking are prohibited.
Baku is one of the few Formula 1 city circuits where roads are opened during peak hours even in race week. In 2024, after the race, Baku returned to its normal rhythm at record speed, with 60% of the protective barriers dismantled and removed from the area within just 16 hours, and the city fully restored within a day. This ensures both the organization of the race and the daily comfort of city residents simultaneously.
