Istanbul: The President of Besiktas club, Serdal Adali, has recently addressed the ongoing situation involving the club’s key player, Rafa Silva. Adali’s comments followed an interaction with Silva’s manager that he described as offering an unreasonable proposal.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, the situation began after Rafa Silva was substituted in the 83rd minute of a match against Basaksehir, prompting his manager to request a meeting. Adali recounted, “He came, we talked. After a while, we met with Rafa. We wanted to resolve the issue between ourselves without escalating, and we worked hard for it.” During the meeting, Silva expressed a desire to leave football, which he later retracted, citing his experiences with multiple presidents and head coaches since joining the team.
The president further disclosed that Silva’s manager proposed a deal for the player to leave the club for 3,000,000 euros, which Adali dismissed as ridiculous. He emphasized, “This is Besiktas, if someone wants to leave, Besiktas will set the conditions. If necessary, we will pay Rafa and he will stay here.” Adali also reiterated that any player wishing to depart must respect the club’s procedures, stating, “If he wants to come and train and play immediately, the pitch is here. No one can walk out the door and say, ‘I’m leaving.’ No one can show such disrespect to Besiktas.”
