Istanbul: Besiktas head coach Sergen Yal§in has publicly expressed concerns over Rafa Silva’s commitment to the team, describing his behavior as unprofessional. During a press conference addressing the player’s apparent reluctance to remain with the club, Yal§in revealed that Silva had voiced his intention to leave football altogether shortly after joining the team.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, Yal§in mentioned that another player, Kenny Arroyo, had previously expressed similar sentiments but was handled differently due to Silva’s perceived value. Yal§in initially believed the situation could be managed without issues. However, the coach noted that the situation deteriorated over time, reaching a point where Silva refused to train or participate in matches.
Yal§in further stated that he had to escalate the matter to the club president, as Silva’s lack of communication made it impossible to resolve the issue internally. Despite efforts to encourage Silva’s participation, the player has only communicated through his manager, who has made threats regarding contract cancellation. Yal§in emphasized the importance of the club over any individual player, stating that both Silva and his own positions could be replaced if necessary.
Throughout the press conference, Yal§in reiterated that he personally had no conflict with Silva, who had always been respectful and professional in their interactions. The head coach urged the media to seek answers directly from Silva regarding his reluctance to engage with the team, as his actions were not aligning with his professional contract obligations.
Yal§in highlighted the team’s reliance on Silva, with strategies and player acquisitions centered around his role. Despite this, Silva’s refusal to train or play has left the team and its management in a difficult position. Yal§in called for Silva to communicate the reasons behind his stance, in hopes of finding a resolution.
