Baku: 'Investigating the consequences of Belgium's colonial policy in Africa, uncovering historical truths, and determining accountability for human rights violations committed during that period hold great importance in terms of restoring justice,' Paul Nsapu Mukulu, President of the National Human Rights Commission of the Democratic Republic of Congo (CNDH-RDC) and the country's Ombudsman, told journalists during the international conference on 'Belgium's Colonial Injustice and the 101-Year Path to Reparations,' held in Baku on August 21.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, ensuring victims' access to truth and justice is essential for building a reconciliation process on solid foundations. Victims must have access to the truth. If truth and justice are ensured, this creates a sound basis for reconciliation, making it possible to prevent the repetition of further injustices,' the Congolese Ombudsman emphasized.
