TASHKENT—The foreign trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Iran reported a significant decline, totaling $255.8 million from January through July 2024, marking a 17.2 percent decrease from the previous year.
According to Trend News Agency, in the corresponding period of 2023, the trade turnover between the two countries was higher, amounting to $299.9 million. Despite the decline, Iran remains one of the top 20 largest trade partners for Uzbekistan. The data revealed that Uzbek exports to Iran were valued at $86.8 million, which is a 27.6 percent decrease from the $110.8 million recorded from January through July 2023. Meanwhile, Uzbekistan’s imports from Iran reached $169.1 million during the same period in 2024, down by 11.8 percent from $189.1 million in the previous year.
In contrast to the bilateral trade figures, Uzbekistan’s total trade turnover saw an increase, totaling $36.8 billion from January through July 2024, up by 5.4 percent from $34.9 billion in the same period last year. The country’s exports amounted to $14.7 billion, while imports were reported at $22 billion.
