BAKU - In a significant development marking further progress in the resettlement process:In a significant development marking further progress in the resettlement process, another group of former internally displaced persons (IDPs) has relocated from the Garadagh district of Baku to Shusha, Azerbaijan. This move, part of a broader initiative directed by President Ilham Aliyev, involved the resettlement of 16 families, totaling 60 individuals to the historically significant city of Shusha. According to Trend News Agency, the families involved in this phase of resettlement expressed their gratitude towards President Aliyev, First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva, and the Azerbaijani Army, which played a crucial role in liberating the area from occupation. This latest group's relocation brings the total number of families that have permanently settled in Shusha to 220, comprising 823 individuals. The return of these families to Shusha is a poignant event, especially considering the city's troubled history durin g the conflict with Armenia. In May 1992, the Armenian annexation led to the massacre of 193 local residents, left 102 people disabled, and forced approximately 25,000 inhabitants to flee their homes, becoming IDPs within their own country. The ongoing resettlement efforts are part of Azerbaijan's commitment to restoring the rights and homes of those displaced by the decades-long conflict.
