Georgian Foreign Minister Highlights Strategic Impact of New Azerbaijan-Armenia Roads

Tbilisi: "Today, the construction of new roads between Azerbaijan and Armenia is being actively discussed. We can say with confidence that this is good for the region," Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili said in an interview with Imedi TV channel, APA's local bureau reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the new roads to be built will only increase the importance of the region in terms of connectivity. The Georgian Foreign Minister emphasized the strategic significance of these developments, noting that Georgia's role as a key connector for Europe remains unchallenged despite the new routes.

Bochorishvili dismissed concerns about any potential risks, asserting that Georgia will maintain its vital position on the map. She questioned the competence of those who overlook Georgia's pivotal role in regional connectivity. The minister underscored that it is inconceivable for any new road to replace Georgia's established transit routes.

"The demand for the road that passes through Georgia and has been operating for a long time is increasing year by year," Bochorishvili stated. She highlighted that even with the addition of multiple new routes, they would not suffice to accommodate the growing cargo flows between the West and the East.
