Heydar Aliyev Center to Host Lorenzo Quinn’s “Equilibrium in Nature” Exhibition Ahead of COP29

BAKU: The Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku is set to feature the “Equilibrium in Nature” exhibition by renowned Italian sculptor Lorenzo Quinn, just before the 29th Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29). The exhibition, which explores themes of environmental awareness and respect for nature, will open on November 1, 2024, and will continue until May 11, 2025.

According to Trend News Agency, the timing of the exhibition is strategically set ahead of COP29 to highlight pressing environmental issues through art. The exhibition will be displayed in both the park and foyer of the Heydar Aliyev Center, allowing visitors to engage closely with the sculptures. Featured pieces at the exhibition include “Eros,” “Together,” “Parallel Universe,” “Force of Nature,” “Love Yourself,” “Balanced World,” and several others that collectively underscore the inexhaustible power of nature and the importance of maintaining a balanced ecosystem.

One of the central
pieces, “Hand of God,” depicts a vulnerable, naked man cradled by a giant hand, symbolizing protection and the multifaceted roles of love and creation in human experience. This piece, dedicated by Quinn to his son, emphasizes the protection children need against the harsh realities of life.

“Together,” another significant work by Quinn, previously displayed near the pyramids in Giza and later in Cannes and Dubai, represents the dual potential of human hands to create and destroy. This piece will now grace the Heydar Aliyev Center park for six months.

“Force of Nature,” another highlight of the exhibition, portrays a strong yet fragile woman, symbolizing Mother Nature. This piece, along with “Give and Take,” which has been admired globally, stresses the delicate balance necessary in nature and life.

Lorenzo Quinn, son of Oscar-winning actor Anthony Quinn and fashion designer Yolanda Addolori, initially trained as a painter before turning to sculpture to better express his vibrant energy and creative ideas.
Known for his emotive works and as a “Creator of Feelings,” Quinn’s sculptures are celebrated for their messages of peace, harmony, and the poignant reminder that the choice to create or destroy lies in our hands.
