Iran Sees Significant Increase in Local Passenger Car Production

Lankaran – Iran has observed an 18.5 percent increase in local passenger car production in the first seven months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through October 22, 2023), compared to the same period last year, as reported by Trend. This growth is indicative of the burgeoning automotive industry in the country.

According to Trend News Agency, Data from the Iranian Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade indicates that a total of 646,486 passenger cars were manufactured in Iran during these seven months. This figure represents a notable increase from the 545,536 units produced in the corresponding period of the previous year (March 21 through October 22, 2022).

In the 7th month alone (September 23 through October 22, 2023), 100,950 passenger cars were manufactured within the country. This number shows a 13.5-percent increase compared to the 88,919 units produced in the same month of the last Iranian year.

Iran’s automotive industry, led by major car manufacturers such as Iran Khodro, Saipa, and Pars Khodro, is undergoing significant growth. The country is implementing various projects aimed at increasing manufacturing capabilities in the auto sector.

Moreover, a total of 762,567 various vehicles, including passenger cars, pick-up trucks, buses, minibuses, vans, trucks, trailers, and others, were produced in Iran in these seven months, marking a 21.7 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

For the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022, through March 20, 2023), the total passenger car production in the country reached 1.18 million units, an increase of 35 percent from the 874,000 units manufactured in the preceding year (March 21, 2021, through March 20, 2022).
