Kazakhstan Explores Increased Oil Transport via BTC Pipeline

Baku: Kazakhstan may increase its oil transportation through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline if the current transportation via the Druzhba pipeline is not suspended. This development was revealed by Kuanysh Keskinbayev, Deputy Chief Commercial Officer of KMG Kashagan, during his address at the 2nd Caspian and Central Asia Oil Trade and Logistics Forum, which was organized by GLENMAR Group.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Keskinbayev indicated that Kazakhstan's primary oil transport route is currently the CPC pipeline. The potential shift to the BTC pipeline, also known as the Middle Corridor, would depend on the status of the Druzhba pipeline operations. The BTC pipeline is a significant route for regional energy exports, stretching from Baku in Azerbaijan through Tbilisi in Georgia, to Ceyhan in Turkey.

The 2nd Caspian and Central Asia Oil Trade and Logistics Forum served as a platform for industry leaders to discuss and strategize on logistical challenges and opportunities in the region's oil trade. The possibility of increasing oil flow through the BTC pipeline highlights Kazakhstan's efforts to diversify its export routes and ensure stable oil transportation logistics.
