Astana: Kazakhstan is planning to put 9 renewable energy projects with a total capacity of 455.5 MW into operation this year, as stated by the country’s Minister of Energy, Almasadam S¤tqaliev. This initiative aims to significantly increase the share of green energy in the country’s energy balance and contribute to reducing the carbon footprint.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Almasadam S¤tqaliev highlighted that the share of renewable energy sources in the total production volume in 2024 amounted to 6.4%, equivalent to 7.58 billion kWh. This underscores Kazakhstan’s commitment to enhancing its renewable energy sector.
Moreover, the minister noted that Kazakhstan is planning to introduce 166 MW of traditional electricity production capacity by 2025. This move is part of a broader strategy to balance the growth of renewable energy with conventional energy sources, ensuring a stable and sustainable energy future for the nation.
