Kyrgyzstan Seeks Removal from EU Airlines Blacklist Amid Promising Talks with European Commission.

Brussels: Kyrgyzstan and the European Commission recently engaged in discussions over the potential removal of Kyrgyzstan’s airlines from the EU’s blacklist. The dialogue occurred during a meeting held in Brussels between Daniyar Bostanov, Director of the State Civil Aviation Agency of Kyrgyzstan, and Peter Sorensen, Deputy Head of the Aviation Safety Unit at the European Commission.

According to Trend News Agency, Bostanov presented a comprehensive report outlining the implementation of new aviation programs, the training of inspectors, and updates to the aviation infrastructure in Kyrgyzstan. Sorensen acknowledged Kyrgyzstan’s progress since July 2024 and confirmed that the country is now meeting international standards.

During the meeting, the European delegation received documentation to consider Kyrgyzstan for inclusion in the upcoming annual EU Flight Safety Report, scheduled for release at the end of November. Discussions also covered the possibility of advisory support from the European Union Aviati
on Safety Agency (EASA), with inspector visits expected in early 2025.

Kyrgyzstan’s airlines have remained on the EU blacklist since 2006, mainly due to the country’s limited capacity to fulfill oversight responsibilities in the aviation sector.
