Baku – Latvia celebrated its 105th anniversary of independence with a special event in Baku, marking a milestone in the country’s history.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to Azerbaijan, Edgars Skuja, addressed the gathering. During his speech, Skuja reflected on Latvia’s journey, overcoming past tragedies and occupations to achieve its current status as an independent and sovereign nation. He emphasized the robust relationship between Latvia and Azerbaijan, highlighting the strategic partnership and strengthening economic ties between the two countries. Skuja noted the significant growth in trade over the past two years and the increasing interest of Azerbaijani youth in Latvia. Looking ahead, he mentioned the upcoming 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Latvia and Azerbaijan. As a member of both NATO and the EU, Latvia actively supports and fosters positive relations with Azerbaijan, Skuja affirmed. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Samir Sharifov, also spoke at the event, acknowledging the rich history of friendly relations between Latvia and Azerbaijan.
