Shusha: The next feature in AZERTAC's 'If I Were a Tourist' column turns the spotlight on Mehmandarov's Estate Complex. Mehmandarov's Estate Complex is among the tourist attractions in Shusha, the cultural capital of Azerbaijan. This palace-style historic residential complex was built in the 18th century. It includes a large residential building, a small residential building, a family mosque, and a spring.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, since October 2021, restoration works have been carried out at the complex, including the family mosque and the spring. Following the completion of the works, a museum exhibition was established in the mansion complex. The exhibition, 'The House of a Garabagh Nobleman,' is based on the interior of a Garabagh noble residence from the late 19th to early 20th century and reflects the lifestyle of an intellectual of that era.
The mansion's rooms are furnished with both traditional Azerbaijani items and European-style household objects. They are arranged in accordance with the interior design standards of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, using period exhibits. Here, visitors can feel as though they are inside the home of an Azerbaijani nobleman who lived during that time. More than 150 antique items were used in compiling the exposition.
