Rome: Muslims in Europe are constantly treated as “second-class” people, stated Imam Yahya Pallavicini, President of La Comunit Religiosa Islamica Italiana (COREIS), during a panel discussion on the Institutionalization of anti-Muslim legislation in Europe. He highlighted that there is no distinction between being fair and religious and holding European citizenship, noting the prejudiced treatment Muslims often endure.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Pallavicini emphasized how the Judeo-Christian population in Europe, leveraging its influence, has been propagating Islamophobic rhetoric. He pointed out that monotheistic religions, including Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, originated from the East and that Muslim scholars were pioneers in translating works of Greek philosophers. Pallavicini stressed the importance of educating Europeans about Islam to foster dialogue between Europe and the Islamic community. He further cited Azerbaijan as a global example of a nation that refrains from practicing religious double standards.
