People’s Union for Liberation of Guadeloupe Condemns France Over Human Rights Allegations

BAKU: The People’s Union for the Liberation of Guadeloupe (UPLG) has issued a statement in Baku, denouncing alleged human rights violations in French-controlled territories. The organization specifically criticized actions taken by French authorities against its Secretary General, Jean-Jacques Bisep.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the UPLG expressed dissatisfaction over the arrest of Bisep at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport. The detention occurred on October 23 as he returned from a meeting at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva, where discussions centered on human rights issues in territories under French control. The statement highlighted a previous incident where Bisep was barred from entering the United States during an attempted visit to the UN headquarters, citing an entry ban issued after he traveled through Martinique.

The UPLG regards these actions as violations of human rights and has vowed to continue raising awareness within the international community about the situation in Guadelo
upe. The group is calling for recognition of its right to self-determination and national independence, drawing parallels between their struggle and that of historical figures who resisted slavery.

The organization has urged the people of Guadeloupe, alongside other patriotic and anti-colonial entities, to denounce efforts aimed at suppressing advocates for sovereignty and independence. The statement concludes with a rallying cry for a free and independent Guadeloupe, declaring an unwavering commitment to achieving full liberation.
