The remains of the martyr Abbasov Akif Ilyas, who was believed to have gone missing during the First Garabagh War and whose burial place and identity were determined after 31 years, were handed over to his family, APA’s local correspondent reports.
A farewell ceremony was held for the martyr, who was the resident of Ahmadli village of Daskasan district, in the same village. Later, the remains of his body were laid to rest in Ganja Alley of Martyrs.
The funeral ceremony of the martyr was attended by the Head of Dashkasan District Executive Power Orkhan Abbasov, the Head of Ganja City Executive Power Niyazi Bayramov, the Consul General of Trkiye in Ganja Recep Oztop, heads of law enforcement agencies of the district, representatives of administrations, institutions and organizations, public representatives, relatives of the martyr, families of martyrs, war veterans and invalids, district residents, and media representatives.
During the burial, the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was performed b
y a military orchestra, and a volley was fired.
The Azerbaijani Flag, which was draped over the martyr’s coffin, was presented to Nizamaddin Abbasov, the brother of Orkhan Abbasov.
Note that martyr Abbasov Akif Ilyas was born on July 1, 1970, in the village of Ahmadli, Dashkasan district. On December 28, 1993, he was martyred while fulfilling his military duty in battles with Armenian armed groups in the Salakhli village area of the Aghdara district.
Akif Abbasov was buried as an unknown martyr in the Barda Alley of Martyrs.
His identity was determined a short time ago.
