Bishkek: In a notable shift in currency exchange rates, the Russian ruble has approached parity with the Kyrgyz som, reflecting recent financial trends in Kyrgyzstan.
According to 24.kg News Agency, Over the past 24 hours, the euro and the Russian ruble have seen an increase in their value in Kyrgyzstan. The euro has appreciated by 1 som, with commercial banks and exchange offices in the capital buying it at rates between 96.2 to 96.7 soms and selling it at 97.3 to 97.8 soms. The National Bank of Kyrgyzstan has set the nominal exchange rate of the euro at 95.5456 soms, marking a 0.05 percent increase.
The Russian ruble, meanwhile, has seen a slight appreciation and is now almost at par with the Kyrgyz som. It is currently being bought for 0.965 to 0.975 som and sold for 0.995 to 1 som. The official exchange rate by the National Bank is 0.9742 som, indicating a 0.53 percent growth.
In contrast, the U.S. dollar exchange rate has remained relatively stable. It is being bought for 89 to 89.3 soms and sold for 89.72 soms, with its nominal rate set at 89.32 soms by the National Bank.
