Second Lunar Eclipse of 2026 to Be Visible in Azerbaijan for 32 Minutes

Baku: The second lunar eclipse of 2026 will occur on August 28, the Department of Astrophysics of the Faculty of Physics at Baku State University (BSU) told APA.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Moon will pass through only part of the Earth's shadow, resulting in a partial eclipse. During this event, a portion of the Moon will appear darkened while the rest remains illuminated. The penumbral lunar eclipse is set to begin at 05:23:55, followed by the onset of the partial eclipse at 06:33:48. The eclipse will reach its peak at 08:12:53. The partial eclipse will conclude at 09:51:55, and the penumbral eclipse will end at 11:01:41.

The lunar eclipse will be visible across Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Americas. However, from Azerbaijan, observers will only be able to witness a segment of the penumbral eclipse from 05:23 to 05:55 in the morning, before the Moon sets.
