Shah Deniz Field Achieves 278 Billion Cubic Meters of Gas Production

Baku: A total of 278 billion cubic meters of gas and 53.6 million tons of condensate have been produced to date from the Shah Deniz field, one of the largest gas-condensate fields globally. Production milestones were shared by SOCAR at the 31st Caspian Oil and Gas Exhibition, Caspian Oil and Gas.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, production under the Shah Deniz-1 project commenced in 2006, while Shah Deniz-2 began in 2018. During this period, 199.6 billion cubic meters of the gas produced from the field have been exported. The field's development and production have been significant, with the upcoming 2026 marking the 30th anniversary of the Production Sharing Agreement and the 20th anniversary of the start of commercial gas production.

Further developments at Shah Deniz include the Shah Deniz Compression Project, which is expected to produce an additional 50 billion cubic meters of gas and 25 million barrels of condensate. The project will focus on additional production from low-pressure reservoirs, anticipated to begin in 2029. The compression platform will operate on electricity, powered through a subsea cable from the Sangachal Terminal.
