Navoi, Uzbekistan – Geologists from the Navoiuran state enterprise have made significant discoveries of uranium deposits across several regions of Uzbekistan, potentially boosting the country’s resources in the valuable mineral.
According to Trend News Agency, the geological expedition, authorized by the Cabinet of Ministers, located new uranium deposits in various districts including Shafirkon in Bukhara, Farish in Jizzakh, Kyzyltepa and Khatyrchi in Navoi, Mubarek and Kasan in Kashkadarya, the city of Angren in Tashkent, and Pap in Namangan. These findings could have substantial implications for Uzbekistan’s uranium production capabilities.
Deputy Minister of Mining and Geology, Jamal Faizullaev, previously announced plans to increase uranium production by 1.5 times while reducing production costs by 20.1 percent. He highlighted that the strategic plan includes extensive geological exploration covering over one million meters, and drilling more than 3.8 million meters for uranium extraction. This ambitious initiative underscores Uzbekistan’s commitment to expanding its role in the global uranium market.
