Kyiv: Specially designed shelters have been established at SOCAR fuel stations in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, which is currently under a state of emergency. The shelters provide residents with hot drinks, heated rest areas, internet access, mobile phones, laptops, and other essential energy supplies.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, SOCAR employee Marina Trushkina noted that the total amount of humanitarian assistance provided by Azerbaijan to Ukraine has already reached $45 million. She added that another batch of humanitarian aid, including power generators worth $1 million, was dispatched by Azerbaijan last week. Marina Trushkina also highlighted SOCAR's active involvement in humanitarian efforts in Ukraine.
Ukrainian citizens staying in the shelters shared their impressions with Azerbaijan State News Agency. Mikhail Vasin expressed his gratitude to Azerbaijan for its unwavering support during these challenging times. Anastasiya Romanova said that she has been using SOCAR fuel stations for many years: 'The social projects implemented by SOCAR during these difficult days are commendable. The shelters established at SOCAR fuel stations during the harsh winter months and amid the emergency situation in the energy sector are a very important initiative. I would like to express my gratitude to SOCAR, and to the Azerbaijani state in general, for the compassion shown to people.'
An emergency situation has been in effect in Kyiv since early January due to the energy crisis. Special shelters are also operating in densely populated areas of the Ukrainian capital.
