Turkish Firm to Construct High-Capacity Power Plant in Bishkek

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan — A major infrastructure project is set to begin in Bishkek, as Turkish company Orta Asya Investment Holding has announced plans to construct a new combined cycle power plant. The facility, with a capacity of over 250 MW, will be located on the territory of TPP-2, a significant step toward modernizing the local energy sector.

According to Trend News Agency, as reported by Trend News Agency, the investment agreement for the power plant construction, totaling $300 million, was signed in the presence of Mayor Aibek Junushaliev. “The project will not only modernize our energy infrastructure but will also generate numerous job opportunities,” the mayor’s office stated.

The development plan by Orta Asya Investment Holding also includes constructing a power transmission line to the Ala-Archa substation and laying a heat route of at least ten kilometers to integrate the hot water supply and heating with Bishkek’s central system. The company, which was officially registered in Kyrgyzstan on February 13, 2024, and is directed by Muhammet Haluk Sur, emphasizes its commitment to enhancing Bishkek’s utility framework and supporting urban development.
