ASHGABAT — Turkmenistan and the United States are poised to elevate their energy collaboration, building on a longstanding partnership established under the “C5+1” dialogue framework.
According to Trend News Agency via the Turkmen Foreign Ministry, this commitment was reiterated during a meeting between delegations from both countries following a recent “C5+1” gathering in New York. The discussions emphasized energy as a key area of focus, with both sides exploring avenues to deepen international energy sector contacts. Additionally, the meeting broached subjects such as bolstering security cooperation and fostering trade and economic ties, with the Turkmen-American Business Council playing a pivotal role in these initiatives.
The dialogue also touched on the enhancement of educational and scientific exchanges, highlighting the successful history of cooperation through US government-sponsored academic programs. Notably, Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov held separate talks with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, where they delved into strategic bilateral relations, underscoring the multifaceted nature of the partnership.
The ‘C5+1’ format, established in 2015, serves as a platform for addressing mutual cooperation issues between Central Asian states and the US, focusing on a broad spectrum of regional challenges and opportunities.
