Baku: 'Sport is one of the most powerful tools that brings people together, regardless of borders, cultures, and languages,' stated Mark Hernandez, Acting Deputy Chief of Mission of the US Embassy in Azerbaijan, during his speech at a breakfast reception organized for the joint viewing of the USA-Trkiye match. He expressed joy in bringing together representatives of Azerbaijan's sports community alongside partners and friends of the embassy.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Hernandez emphasized that sport, irrespective of team allegiances, unites people around a shared love for competition, team spirit, and fair play. He noted that sport is a vital platform that aids in developing international relations and deepening friendships among nations.

Hernandez further highlighted the significance of Baku being declared the World Capital of Sports for 2026.
