Baku: From February 28 to March 4, a total of 1,249 individuals have been evacuated from Iran to Azerbaijan, marking a significant international effort, APA reports. Among the evacuees, 256 are Azerbaijani citizens, while the rest include nationals from various other countries.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the foreign citizens evacuated from Iran include 400 individuals from China, 249 from Russia, and 105 from Tajikistan. The operation also saw the evacuation of 80 Pakistani citizens and 46 Omanis. Other evacuees comprise 18 Saudis, 9 Georgians, 7 Belarusians, 6 each from the United Arab Emirates and Slovakia, and 5 from Serbia. Additionally, citizens from Iran, Jordan, Switzerland, Nigeria, and Japan, totaling 4 each, were evacuated.
The evacuation effort further included 3 citizens each from Qatar, Bangladesh, Uzbekistan, Mexico, the Philippines, Kazakhstan, and France. The operation also facilitated the evacuation of 2 individuals each from Nepal, Turkey, Yemen, Kyrgyzstan, and Italy. Moreover, one citizen from each of the following countries was evacuated: Poland, Tunisia, Lebanon, India, Brazil, Myanmar, the Maldives, South Africa, Cuba, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom.
The ongoing evacuation efforts highlight the complex international cooperation involved in ensuring the safe passage of citizens from the crisis-hit region in Iran.
