Baku: A meeting was held at Baku Engineering University (BEU) with international students newly admitted to the university for the 2025/2026 academic year. Speaking at the meeting, BEU Rector Yagub Piriyev stated that internationalization is among the key priorities of the university's Strategic Development Program and that purposeful steps have been taken in this direction in recent years.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Rector Piriyev noted that cooperation with foreign higher education institutions has been expanded, the number of dual degree and exchange programs has increased, participation in international projects has been strengthened, and institutional mechanisms have been established to attract international students. The rector emphasized that students from 40 countries are currently studying at the university, and that in recent years not only their number but also their geographical diversity has doubled, indicating the strengthening of the university's position in the international higher education arena.
The meeting also highlighted that adaptation programs for international students, academic advisory services, the expansion of English-taught programs, the acquisition of international accreditations, and the development of modern campus infrastructure are key components of the internationalization policy. The goal is not only to increase student numbers but also to form a multicultural academic environment.
Yagub Piriyev pointed out that 34 foreign students selected under the Heydar Aliyev International Education Grant Program are studying at BEU, contributing to the promotion of Azerbaijan's higher education system internationally. He mentioned the creation of safe and comfortable living conditions for international students in BEU's modern dormitory complexes, along with administrative and social support mechanisms to aid student adaptation.
International students expressed gratitude for the educational conditions and the welcoming atmosphere of the meeting, acknowledging the consistent interest of the university's international relations structures in addressing their concerns.
At the meeting's conclusion, Yagub Piriyev issued instructions concerning the proposals put forward, focusing on strengthening student-oriented projects related to international students and wishing the participants success in their studies and personal development.
