Baku: Armenia and Azerbaijan are intensifying efforts to solidify their peace agenda, as stated by Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Hajiyev, who also serves as the Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan, made these remarks during a panel discussion titled 'Multilateralism in Crisis: Rethinking Global Cooperation' at the Global Baku Forum in Baku.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Hajiyev emphasized the importance of regional autonomy in decision-making, stating, "We are trying to ensure that no one comes and lectures us in the region." He acknowledged the role of external countries in presenting their interests and contributing to the region, reflecting on the early years of Azerbaijan's independence, when the country relied heavily on international organizations. Hajiyev remarked that the conflict was resolved through military and political means, paving the way for the current focus on enhancing the peace agenda between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
