Assistant to Azerbaijani President Criticizes Washington Post’s Credibility in Recent Commentary.

Baku: The Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, Hikmat Hajiyev, has drawn parallels between the Washington Post and ‘Komsomolskaya Pravda’ during the USSR’s final days, criticizing the newspaper for its perceived propaganda. He expressed his views on the X platform, referencing an article by Jeff Bezos published in the Washington Post, as reported by APA.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, Hajiyev, who serves as the Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, addressed the Washington Post and certain Congress officials for their alleged propaganda against Azerbaijan, especially leading up to COP29. He highlighted Bezos’ critique of declining trust in media, noting that the Gallup poll shows journalism is now the least trusted profession, ranking even below Congress.

Hajiyev echoed Bezos’ sentiments about media credibility issues, criticizing the Washington Post and the New York Times for catering to a specific elite audience. He remarked that while Bezos’ article
focused on national trust concerns, global trust remains significantly low. Hajiyev’s commentary underscores a broader narrative on the global stage about the impact of perceived media bias and propaganda.
