BAKU — On the sidelines of the 29th Annual Conference of the International Association of Prosecutors in Baku, Kamran Aliyev, Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General, held a notable meeting with Renson Mulele Ingonga, the Director of Public Prosecutions of Kenya, culminating in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance legal ties between the two nations.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the discussions on September 29 emphasized the flourishing cooperation under the Non-Aligned Movement, with Aliyev highlighting the strong political relationships that have been instrumental in advancing legal and judicial collaborations. The meeting also touched on the significance of Azerbaijan hosting the upcoming 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), appreciating Kenya’s substantial role in global climate initiatives.
Reflecting on the first official visit by the Kenyan delegation to Azerbaijan last February, Aliyev stressed the value of exchanging experiences and the benefits of mutual visits between prosecutorial staff. This practice, he noted, has been pivotal in forging strong connections and enhancing the capabilities of both nations’ prosecution services.
Ingonga commended the ongoing reforms within Azerbaijan’s prosecution system and the productive relationships between the judicial bodies of the two countries. The newly signed Memorandum of Understanding aims to solidify these ties further and expand collaborative efforts across various legal fronts.
