BAKU—During the ongoing 29th Annual Conference and General Assembly of the International Association of Prosecutors, Oman’s Attorney General commended Azerbaijan for its exemplary role in hosting significant global forums.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, at the conference, which spans from September 29 to October 2, Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev of Azerbaijan held discussions with Nasr Khamis Al Sawaii, the Attorney General of Oman. The meeting underscored the strong cooperative ties between the two nations, facilitated through their participation in international bodies like the Non-Aligned Movement and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
Aliyev elaborated on the broadening scope of Azerbaijani-Omani relations across multiple sectors including economy, energy, education, and tourism, highlighted by regular mutual visits that enhance bilateral connections. The convergence of their prosecutorial efforts is most evident in their engagement with the IAP and other professional platforms, contributing to a richer dialogue on global prosecutorial practices.
The importance of Azerbaijan hosting the upcoming 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) was also discussed. Aliyev remarked on the event’s crucial role in advancing global climate initiatives and invited the Omani Attorney General to a significant meeting co-organized by Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General’s Office and the UN Office on Drugs and Crime scheduled for November 15.
The bilateral discussions also led to a consensus on drafting a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance legal cooperation and further solidify the partnership between their respective prosecution offices.
