Baku: A significant drug smuggling operation has been foiled at the Azerbaijan-Iran border. A large quantity of narcotics was intercepted by the State Border Service, as reported by APA, citing the Press Center of the State Border Service.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the operation aimed to ensure robust border protection and combat the illegal trafficking of narcotics, psychotropic substances, and their precursors. The operation took place in the service area of the Horadiz border detachment under the Border Troops Command. The efforts led to the prevention of a substantial amount of narcotics being smuggled from Iran into Azerbaijan, and the apprehension of an individual involved in the act.
On March 18, Fuad Alimadat Vahidov, a resident of Baku born in 1995, was detained while attempting to bring 6 kilograms and 670 grams of marijuana into the country. Further, on March 25, an additional 10 kilograms and 600 grams of marijuana were discovered and seized from the same area. Operational and investigative measures continue in response to this incident.
