Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Relations Reach New Heights of Development

Baku: Relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan have entered a stage of unprecedented development in recent years, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev stated in an interview with Uzbekistan National News Agency (UzA), as reported by APA. The relationship between the two nations is rooted in a shared history, culture, language, and moral values, enhanced by the unity, solidarity, and deep mutual sympathy passed down through generations.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Aliyev emphasized that the interstate relations have risen to the level of alliance, acquiring new content. The friendship, mutual respect, and trust between President Shavkat Miromonovich Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan and President Aliyev play a critical role in this development. Mirziyoyev's efforts to promote fraternity and unity have earned him significant respect in Azerbaijan.

President Aliyev highlighted the robust political dialogue between the two countries, characterized by 15 high-level reciprocal visits in the past five years. Aliyev noted that his upcoming visit to Uzbekistan marks his third state visit and seventh visit overall, reflecting the dynamic development and strengthening of ties.

He expressed admiration for Uzbekistan's rapid development across various sectors, including the economy, infrastructure, science, education, culture, and sports. Under Mirziyoyev's leadership, Uzbekistan has witnessed significant growth, contributing to its international standing.

The reciprocal state visits in August 2024 and July 2025 led to the signing of pivotal documents, including the 'Declaration on Further Strengthening of Strategic Partnership' and the 'Treaty on Allied Relations.' These agreements have reinforced the legal and political foundations of the relationship, paving the way for future cooperation between the two independent and sovereign states.
