Azerbaijani-Israeli Documentary Film ‘Tradition Coming from Centuries’ Premieres in Israel

Tel aviv: A presentation ceremony for the film 'Tradition Coming from Centuries' was held at Azerbaijan's Embassy in Israel, APA reports. The documentary film, directed by Rufat Asadov and produced by Shaul Siman, is a joint production of Azerbaijani and Israeli filmmakers.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the presentation ceremony was organized jointly by the Azerbaijani Embassy and the 'Sholumi' Cultural Center. During the event, Ambassador Mukhtar Mammadov expressed his satisfaction with the deepening relations between the peoples of Israel and Azerbaijan, highlighting that their friendship and mutual respect have evolved into a strategic partnership in recent years. He conveyed his confidence that Rufat Asadov's film would further strengthen the ties between the two nations.

Rufat Asadov emphasized Azerbaijan's historical role as a cultural crossroads where Eastern and Western civilizations have converged, fostering multiculturalism and tolerance. He noted that the film reflects these themes, showcasing Azerbaijan's tradition of coexistence.

Following the Tel Aviv event, the film was also presented in Jerusalem, organized by the Azerbaijan-Israel International Association and the 'Sholumi' Cultural Center. The screening was attended by representatives of various Jerusalem communities.

The film focuses on Albert Rafiyev, a carpet artist, collector, and researcher of the cultural heritage of Mountain Jews. Originating from the Red Settlement of the Guba district, Rafiyev's work embodies the fusion of Azerbaijani and Jewish cultures. His art portrays Azerbaijan as a land where diverse peoples and religions have historically coexisted peacefully, upholding traditions of multiculturalism and tolerance.

The documentary has garnered international interest, receiving invitations for screenings in several countries, including the United States, Germany, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, and Russia.
