Azerbaijan’s Retail Trade Turnover Sees Nearly 4% Increase

Baku: Azerbaijan’s retail trade turnover experienced a notable increase of 3.7% in the first eight months of 2025, with goods valued at 40.4 billion manats sold to consumers through the retail trade network.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, citing the State Statistical Committee, this growth reflects a positive trend compared to the same period in the previous year.

Of the total retail trade turnover, food products, beverages, and tobacco products accounted for 22.2 billion manats, while non-food products contributed 18.2 billion manats. The turnover for food products, beverages, and tobacco saw an increase of 1.3%, whereas non-food products experienced a more substantial rise of 6.7%.

In terms of consumer spending within the retail trade network from January to August 2025, 50.7% was allocated to food products, 4.3% to beverages and tobacco, 12.9% to textiles, clothing, and footwear, 6.1% to motor gasoline and diesel fuel, 4.8% to electrical goods and furniture, 2.4% to pharmaceuticals and medical supplies, 1.3% to computers, telecommunication equipment, and printed products, and 17.5% to other non-food products.

The period also saw a 3.8% increase in the value of goods sold by non-state sector business entities in real terms compared to the previous year, comprising 99.8% of the total retail trade turnover. Retail trade turnover in real terms increased by 8.0% in enterprises, 1.0% among individual entrepreneurs, and 3.9% in markets and fairs.

On average, each person spent 493.6 manats per month in the retail trade network during this period, with expenditures of 271.4 manats on food products, beverages, and tobacco, and 222.2 manats on non-food products.
