Baku: Azerbaijan's State Statistics Committee reported that 2,570.2 thousand foreigners and stateless persons from 189 countries visited Azerbaijan in 2025, representing a 2.1 percent increase compared to the previous year.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the Committee highlighted that the largest groups of arrivals were from Russia, making up 23.9 percent, followed by citizens from Turkey at 17.7 percent, Iran at 8.1 percent, and India at 6.5 percent. Other significant percentages included Georgian citizens at 4.3 percent, Saudi Arabian citizens at 4.1 percent, and Kazakh citizens at 4.0 percent. Visitors from Pakistan accounted for 3.5 percent, while Israeli and Chinese visitors comprised 2.7 percent and 2.5 percent, respectively. Uzbek citizens represented 2.4 percent of the total, with UAE and Ukrainian citizens contributing 1.7 percent and 1.4 percent, respectively. Additionally, Turkmen citizens accounted for 1.3 percent, and Belarusian, British, and Kuwaiti visitors each made up 1.0 percent. The remaining 12.9 percent came from other countries.
International arrival data revealed that 67.0 percent of visitors were men, with women making up 33.0 percent of the total. There was a notable increase in visitors from EU member states, rising by 7.0 percent to reach 120.1 thousand, while arrivals from CIS countries saw an 8.2 percent increase, totaling 865.7 thousand.
The Committee also noted that 75.8 percent of foreign and stateless visitors entered Azerbaijan by air, while 22.9 percent traveled by railway and road transport, and 1.3 percent arrived by sea.
In contrast, the number of Azerbaijani citizens traveling abroad decreased by 2.3 percent in 2025, totaling 2,109.9 thousand people. Among these travelers, 41.2 percent visited Turkey, 14.5 percent Russia, 10.7 percent Georgia, and 9.7 percent Iran, with 23.9 percent traveling to other countries. The majority of Azerbaijani citizens, 69.6 percent, used air transport, while 28.5 percent opted for railway and road transport, and 1.9 percent traveled by sea.
