Canadian Official Highlights Potential Impact of WUF13 on National Housing Policy

Baku: Innovative approaches and best practices discussed at the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku could contribute to solving housing problems in Canada, Lindsay Neeley, Vice President for Policy at the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), said in a statement to APA-Economics within the framework of WUF13. She noted that the growing gap between incomes and housing prices and rental costs in Canada is further exacerbating the issue of housing affordability. This situation particularly affects the most vulnerable groups of the population.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Neeley emphasized that the housing crisis is not only a problem for Canada but a global challenge. The CMHC official highlighted that WUF13 serves as an important platform for learning about similar problems faced by different countries and exploring solutions.

Neeley expressed the value of being in Baku and learning from the experiences of other countries. She expects to gather insights on new ideas and innovative approaches that can be applied to address housing problems in Canada. Additionally, Neeley mentioned that the knowledge and experience gained at the forum will support the development of more effective housing policies in Canada.
