Beijing: Beijing and Moscow have committed to defending the international system of relations, emphasizing the United Nations’ central role, Chinese leader Xi Jinping revealed during a video conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Xi Jinping articulated a vision of sustained collaboration between China and Russia to support the UN-centric international system. He emphasized the importance of defending the outcomes of World War II, which were achieved with tremendous sacrifice, and safeguarding the rights of China and Russia as founding members of the United Nations with permanent seats on the Security Council.
Xi also highlighted the significance of the upcoming year 2025, marking the 80th anniversary of several pivotal events: the Soviet Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese aggression, and the establishment of the United Nations. These anniversaries, Xi noted, serve as reminders of the historical bonds and shared commitments between the two nations.
