BAKU — The upcoming COP29 in Baku is crucial for addressing global climate change challenges, emphasized Yalchin Rafiyev, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister and Lead Negotiator for COP29, during the “29 Climate Conversations: Road to COP29” media workshop, as reported by Trend.
According to Trend News Agency, Rafiyev detailed the critical role of COP meetings in combating climate threats, urging UN member states and partners of the Rio Convention and the Paris Agreement to undertake significant and impactful measures. He highlighted the importance of these gatherings as platforms for collective action against climate change.
This November, Baku will host the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, which was decided at the COP28 plenary meeting in Dubai last year. The city is preparing to welcome approximately 70-80,000 participants from around the world, affirming its role as a pivotal hub for global climate negotiations.
