NAKHCHIVAN: Energy production in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan is slated to grow fivefold in the coming years, officials announced. The expansion, driven by several major energy projects, will see an addition of 1,500 megawatts (MW) to the region’s current generating capacity of 244.8 MW.
According to Trend News Agency, Maharram Abbasov, the Deputy Head of the State Energy Service of Nakhchivan and Acting Head, conveyed this significant development to reporters. Abbasov emphasized the transformative impact of the planned projects, stating, “The generating capacity of plants in Nakhchivan today is 244.8 MW, and 1,500 MW of capacity will be added in the coming years. This means that energy production in Nakhchivan will increase fivefold.”
The announcement highlights the ambitious energy strategy being pursued in Nakhchivan, aiming to bolster the region’s energy infrastructure significantly. The planned increase in energy capacity underscores ongoing efforts to enhance energy security and su
