Baku: Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister, Jeyhun Bayramov, has reaffirmed the nation's commitment to expanding its multimodal transport connectivity, positioning it as a central element of Azerbaijan's post-conflict strategy. Bayramov's comments came during the event 'Cities at the Center of Connectivity: Urban Reconstruction and Regional Cooperation,' which was part of the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13).
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Bayramov highlighted Azerbaijan's pivotal role in promoting the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, also known as the Middle Corridor, and the North-South Corridor. These initiatives are crucial for enhancing regional cooperation and connectivity. The minister also mentioned the Washington Declaration, signed in August 2025, which established the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity. This route aims to facilitate seamless multimodal connectivity between Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, while establishing a strategic link between Asia and Europe through railways, highways, energy pipelines, power grids, and fiber-optic cables.
Bayramov further explained that the Horadiz-Agband railway and Turkey's new Kars-Igdir-Dilucu railway line are set to complement the Zangezur corridor. These projects are expected to bolster regional connectivity and strengthen the ties between Asia and Europe, solidifying Azerbaijan's role as a key promoter of international transport routes.
