Baku: 'It is crucial to move away from hostility and to think about solutions based on international law, norms, and principles of cooperation. Unfortunately, at present both Global North and Global South countries face the same fundamental threats and challenges. However, the problem is that applying the same approach to all sides only deepens the existing divide,' said Alfred Gusenbauer, former Chancellor of Austria, during the panel session titled 'Global Security and Balance of Power: Respect for International Law - New Issues, New Challenges,' held as part of the Global Baku Forum.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Gusenbauer emphasized that dialogue and cooperation should serve as the primary means of protecting the interests of all parties involved. He pointed out the necessity for a shift in mindset towards collaborative efforts, rooted in mutual respect and adherence to international regulations and frameworks.
The former Chancellor highlighted that the ongoing global challenges necessitate an approach that transcends traditional hostilities and focuses on constructive engagements. This, he suggested, would pave the way for more inclusive and equitable solutions to the pressing issues faced by nations across the globe.
In his remarks, Gusenbauer underscored the importance of addressing the root causes of conflicts and misunderstandings. He called for a renewed commitment to international laws and norms, which he believes are essential in maintaining global peace and security. The Global Baku Forum, where Gusenbauer shared his insights, serves as a platform for leaders and experts to engage in meaningful discussions aimed at fostering a more balanced and peaceful global order.
