On July 13, 2023, on the sidelines of the conference of the heads of diplomatic service agencies of the Republic of Azerbaijan, a visit to the city of Aghdam was organized for the leadership team of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the heads of our diplomatic missions accredited in foreign countries, APA reports citing the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, the Deputy Assistant to the First Vice-President, Elchin Amirbayov, the leadership team of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the heads of our diplomatic missions abroad first visited the Aghdam Martyrs' Alley during the visit. They laid flowers on the graves of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for their homeland.
Later, a conference entitled "Revival of Aghdam" was held.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, delivering an opening speech at the event, highlighted the significance of Aghdam and Karabakh for the Azerbaijani people. He stated that the deliberate destruction of this beautiful city, which was once one of the most developed regions of our country, by Armenia, is an integral part of Armenia's policy of ethnic hatred and intolerance towards Azerbaijan. It is stated that today, thanks to the attention and care of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, and the First Vice-President, Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva, the meticulous restoration of all the liberated territories, including Aghdam, is at the center of focus. Despite the existing challenges, the scale of destruction, and the threat of landmines, it is stated that Azerbaijan remains determined to advance the process of restoration in the liberated territories and ensure the dignified return of internally displaced persons to their homes.
After the liberation of our territories as a result of the 44-day Patriotic War, it is emphasized that the most important issue facing our diplomacy is taking measures to prevent any threats to the security of the liberated territories and ensuring that all efforts are dedicated to the reconstruction and rehabilitation work.
Later, Emin Huseynov, the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the liberated part of the Karabakh Economic Region, provided detailed information to the participants of the event about the extensive restoration and reconstruction works carried out in the area.
The next speaker, Vugar Suleymanov, the Chairman of the National Agency for Mine Action of the Republic of Azerbaijan, presented information about the activities carried out for the clearance of mines and unexploded ordnance in the liberated territories.
Later, Mais ?mrahov, the Director of the Department of History of Azerbaijani Culture at the Institute of History named after A.A. Bakikhanov, who holds a doctoral degree in history and is a professor, delivered a lecture on the historical aspects of Aghdam and Karabakh.
During the event, a video presentation showcasing the ongoing restoration and reconstruction works in the liberated territories was also featured.
As part of the visit, the participants of the conference had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the restoration and reconstruction works carried out in Aghdam and the activities related to the clearance of mines in our territories. The attendees also took part in a mine explosion demonstration. The participants got acquainted with the historical and cultural heritage of Aghdam.
The conference of the heads of diplomatic service agencies, which commenced with a visit to Aghdam and the conference "Revival of Aghdam," concluded on July 11.
