BAKU: The international photo contest ‘Children’s Eyes on Earth,’ spearheaded by Leyla Aliyeva, Head of the IDEA Public Union, and supported by the COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company, is nearing its submission deadline. Under the initiative of acclaimed photographer Reza Deghati, the contest invites young photographers globally to submit entries that will be judged in early November, APA reports.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the contest, which began on October 11th, aims to highlight climate issues ahead of the COP29 conference in Baku, scheduled for November 11th to 22nd. The contest remains open for submissions until October 31st, encouraging participants up to 18 years of age to capture their views on nature, pollution, and climate change. A panel of esteemed photographers will evaluate the entries in the first days of November.
Operating under the theme ‘I Love Nature, I Fear Pollution,’ the contest seeks to engage young people worldwide, fostering a deeper understanding of climate change’s cha
llenges. It encourages participants to use photography to propose solutions and draw international attention to this pressing issue. Through this initiative, young individuals are invited to express their environmental concerns and affection for nature, contributing to the development of environmentally conscious citizens.
The winning photographs will be displayed at an exhibition at the ‘Heydar Aliyev Center,’ opening on November 18th, coinciding with COP29. This exhibition will be accessible to numerous international guests attending the conference. The organisers urge young photographers worldwide to take part, share their unique insights, and ensure their voices contribute to the global dialogue on climate change.
