Kyrgyzstan Set to Conduct Comprehensive Agricultural Census in 2025

BISHKEK: Kyrgyzstan is gearing up for an extensive agricultural census scheduled for 2025, an initiative aimed at updating and enhancing the national agricultural policies and investment strategies.

According to Trend News Agency, the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan recently announced that the Republican Commission for the preparation and conduct of the agricultural census has convened its initial meeting. This session, led by Bakyt Torobayev, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Food Industry, marked the official commencement of the preparatory activities for the 2025 census. The meeting’s attendees included key figures from various governmental sectors, representatives from the president’s office in several regional areas, and the mayors of Bishkek and Osh.

During this first gathering, the National Statistical Committee detailed the preparatory steps already underway, highlighting a pilot census planned for November 2024 in select rural districts
. This preliminary survey will occur in two distinct rural locations-the Aravan district in the Osh region and the Ysyk-Ata district in the Chuy region-serving as a precursor to the comprehensive census the following year.

The discussions of the Republican Commission centered around critical preparatory elements such as the development of an information campaign to educate the public, the creation of training programs for census workers, and the enhancement of necessary technical infrastructure to support the census operations.

Bakyt Torobayev emphasized the significance of the upcoming census, stating, “The agricultural census is a key event for obtaining accurate and up-to-date information on the state of agriculture in Kyrgyzstan.
