Middle Corridor Emerges as Crucial Component of Europe’s Transport Network

Baku: The Middle Corridor is gaining significance in Europe's transport network, evolving into a vital route within the Eurasian transport system, as highlighted by Romanian political scientist Iulian Chifu during the "Azerbaijan and the World" program on the AZERTAC website.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Chifu outlined the project's focus on establishing the Black Sea-Caspian Sea strategic transport corridor. This initiative aims to facilitate multimodal freight and container transportation from China through Central Asian nations, the Caspian region, Azerbaijan, and Georgia to Europe.

Chifu also mentioned the potential for further expansion of the route, suggesting new transport solutions that might include corridors through the South Caucasus. He identified Romania as a critical destination on this route within the European Union.

To enhance the corridor's efficiency, Chifu stressed the importance of developing unified customs procedures, bolstering transport security, and creating an integrated transport system that combines rail and maritime transport.
