Russian FM Discusses South Caucasus Communications Without Trilateral Commission

MOSCOW — The trilateral commission, involving deputy prime ministers from Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia, which has been addressing the restoration of transport links in the South Caucasus, is no longer convening, stated Sergey Lavrov, the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs, at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO).

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Lavrov commented on the ongoing direct negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan regarding the restoration of transport links, noting that if these discussions are progressing without Russia's involvement, it should proceed "for the sake of God." He acknowledged the complexities and differences in the negotiations but indicated that all parties have a clear understanding of each other's positions and are keen to reach mutually beneficial agreements.
